Then her Facebook-generation assistant reminds Reagan of the free-wheeling lifestyle she and Chris once had. She also remembers that no matter how rowdy the partying once was, she always managed to get home, something that makes her very proud. Determined to prove that she and Chris still have a hot love life, and that she can be the perfect wife, mother, and career woman, Reagan spins a little out of control. But she eventually realizes that Amy is her new number one priority and somehow everything except maybe Chris is going to take a backseat to their new bundle of joy. Up All Night.

This article is interesting because I never really understood why we studied all night. I wish to study this Shavuot with intensity. It is such a joy to know that we can fix a mistake we made way back then.
I pray Hashem gives all of us the knowledge wisdom and understanding to truly comprehend His Torah with joy and happiness to the point that we integrate it into our daily lives and thank Him every minute of each day. Sources I'm looking for sources for this custom and further explanation. Where can I look?
Hebrew sources are ok for me. Waiting to hear from you Reply.
No, women have no need to stay awake on Shavuot and learn although they can if they want to. If it works for you and your family, and you'd like to do it, go ahead! Since the learning is a time related matter, I was wondering if women are also suppose to stay awake all night? Chag Shavuot sameach Reply. Re: Staying Up The custom to stay awake is for the first night of Shavuot, which this year is Saturday night the night between Saturday and Sunday. Saturday Now you said they stay up Saturday night, this year the 26 May.
Are you counting that as the night between Saturday and Sunday That is what it sounds like, since you did not use the word "Sabbath". But when I hear Saturday night, I think the 24 hour period normally recognized here in the US as midnight to midnight. To Bobi Most people take a n extended nap the next day.

In many communities, it is customary to hold morning prayers at the crack of dawn, allowing people to sleep in the morning without worrying about snoozing through prayers. Other communities prefer to hold the prayers a bit later than usual so that people can pray after they have refreshed themselves with some sleep. How about the next day, we work after it, or allowed to lay down for a few hours? But if you stay up all night, you're not going to be able to get up early to receive the Torah.
Maybe that's what they did wrong in the first place Heaven What is the value of what you do if you only do it for the reward. If you study only to get a good grade, then you missed why you are studying it in the first place. Seek growth, progress, wisdom, and not paybacks, and you will be enriched.

Seek only rewards, and you will be a slave of anyone holding the right carrot in front of you. Hashem does not make slaves, men do that. What assurance do I have Reply. Thank you very much Reb Menachem--I do not live where there are Jewish bookstores and do not use credit cards, so I could not get a sefer in time. TO: Akiva The tikkun is comprised of the beginning and end of every Parsha weekly Torah reading , as well as selections from other parts of the Tanach, Talmud, and Zohar. It also includes a list of the Mitzvot.
Those who do not study the selections of the Torah found in the tikkun, study other parts of the Torah. I have seen many synagogues where wide arrays of classes and lectures are offered through the night on many Torah topics. Some read the first and last passukim of each parsha. I have used it ever since and find no better way in staying up by learning from that sefer especially armed with a good supply of coffee and cheese cake.
